Nothing to Lose is based on a book trilogy that sold 7 million copies worldwide and was released in US theatres and in several South American countries. The German version was also released on Netflix all over the world, including South America and Germany.The film is a biopic of Brazilian evangelical bishop Edir Macedo, founder of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. It starts with him going through a teenage struggle about his beliefs. Young Edir (voiced by Constantin Cascante) struggled with believing in God and religion. He first struggled about the whole concept and logic to fit and once he committed to it, he faced more heartbreak because he gives up everything for his belief in God and faces criticism and dislike from the people around him for his religious opinion. However, his belief in God was stronger and he follows them through controversial setbacks, such as his arrest in 1992.
